COMMENTSSIRT1 expression and its deacetylase activity was found to be decreased in PBMCs from patients with severe asthma when compared with those of patients with nonsevere asthma and healthy subjects. Decreased SIRT1 activity was also positively correlated with decreased FEV1. A strong negative correlation between SIRT1 activity and expression of IL4 transcripts in PBMCs.
